Leave Policy
Eligibility
Regular full-time employees are eligible to
request Personal Leave of Absences (PLOA) after 6
consecutive months of employment. Eligible employees may take
up to 6 weeks of unpaid leave in any rolling 12-month period
with an approval letter from their supervisor and/or
Regional manager.
Under this policy, employees may be required to submit
documentation acceptable to DriveTime confirming their reason for
the leave of absence. A Personal Leave of Absence cannot be
used to extend an FMLA Leave entitlement.
To check if you qualify for
Family Medical Leave of Absence, please review FMLA
Requirements.
PLOA
Following approval by the Disability Department, the
employee's manager and appropriate Regional Team Manager will
evaluate the needs of the business and the employee's request and
notify the Disability Department of the final decision. Upon
receipt of the response from the manager (or RTM),
the Disability Department will mail the employee a
determination letter.
If an employee is not eligible for a Personal Leave of Absence
(and/or FMLA), a manager with the approval of their RTM may allow 5
consecutive unpaid workdays (after exhaustion of accrued PTO
time). If an employee is unable to return by day 6, his/her
employment will be terminated.
